Sonjie Feliciano Solomon is a designer and artist based in Brooklyn, NY.  Her paintings and sculptures combine the worlds of design, art and craft. Industrial design principles, tools and materials are employed to create new processes and systems to plan and produce her work. Then obsessive, repetitive hand construction and finishing completes each piece. The works are the juxtaposition of a cold, rigid, and calculated design process but leave enough room for a softer, organic, ephemeral end result.

Feliciano Solomon’s intention is for the work to speak to people first based purely on visual perception and then progress into a curiosity about deconstructing the process. Ephemerality and transformation, light and shadow, structure and collapsibility, the designed and the organic are all qualities that are investigated in the work to surprise and delight the viewer.

Sonjie Feliciano Solomon was born in Manila, grew up in St. Louis, MO and now works in Brooklyn, New York. She is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design and Georgetown University. She also currently has baby gear products on the market under the Hatch Things brand.
