THINK POSSIBLE!

A Book Party for Deborah Norville

This week we hosted a party to celebrate Deborah Norville's new book with Amy Newmark, Chicken Soup for the Soul: Think Possible. What a great book with a wonderful message!  When it came time to toast our guest of honor, Ann said, "despite all of the negative things going on in the world, Deborah always provides a positive outlook and sheds light on the good things."  Ann reminisced that she, along with Joan Rivers and Blaine Trump, had hosted a party for one of Deborah's earliest books...and amazingly pulled out the file "Deborah Norville Luncheon," dated September 12, 1997!  (Ann's incredible assistant, Ceil McCarthy, saved everything!)

Referenced in her speech from that long-ago luncheon was a "controversial" photograph of Deborah nursing her baby, featured in People magazine and taken by renowned photographer, Harry Benson, who was on hand to celebrate with us this week too.  We loved having Deborah, her husband, Karl, son, Nick and so many terrific friends at The Curator Gallery.

A PARTY FOR PAT

Toasting Pat Fili-Krushel

Last week, The Curator Gallery was packed to the rafters with nearly 50 women who all turned out to toast Pat Fili-Krushel.  A champion of women's leadership throughout her career at NBC, Time Warner, WebMD, ABC, Lifetime and HBO, this was an opportunity for many of us to thank Pat for all she has done and continues to do.  The feeling in the room was one of admiration and solidarity, as old friends reunited and friends of friends connected.  Over a delicious lunch from Between the Bread, one by one, each guest stood to pay tribute to Pat and offer a bit of advice.  The toasts ranged from beautiful to bawdy, but all were heartfelt and full of admiration and best wishes.  Gesturing to the art on the walls, Curator Rebecca Michelman advised this group of power players to "stop and sense the sublime!"  And for just a few hours that afternoon, they did.

THINK PINK!

Celebrating Alexandra Penney, Creator of The Pink Ribbon

Not only is Alexandra Penney an accomplished artist whose one-woman show is currently on view at The Curator Gallery, she's also the creator of the now iconic Pink Ribbon. Alexandra introduced the ribbon in 1992 as editor-in-chief at SELF, and along with her friend, Evelyn Lauder, made it an international symbol for breast cancer awareness.  Last night, her friends and fans gathered at the gallery to honor this achievement!

Among the well-wishers were Curator Bill Shapiro, Mickey Ateyeh, Cathie Black, Cindy Lewis, Lisa Aiba, Helen Gregory, Gay Gaddis and Michael Nathanson.  Also there was Alexandra's pal, Larry Burstein, who was publisher of SELF (now publisher of New York magazine) when The Pink Ribbon was created.  It was fun to see a dynamic duo reunited!
