Photographer Alexandra Penney lives in New York City, where she can be found in her studio nearly seven days a week. Beginning her career as a painter, Penney then entered the journalism field. She served as editor-in-chief of SELF Magazine and is also the best-selling author of How to Make Love to a Man. At SELF, Penney created the Pink Ribbon for breast cancer awareness. After September 11, 2001, she decided to pursue her art career full time.
Born in Boston, Penney received a BA from Smith College and a Masters in studio art and art criticism from Hunter College. Her work has appeared in numerous solo and group shows in New York City, Berlin, Boston, Palm Beach, and East Hampton.
